What to Expect at Your First Physical Therapy Appointment
August 19, 2026
Not sure what happens at your first physical therapy visit? We understand that the unknown can feel a little nerve-wracking — so let's walk through what to expect.
Before Your Visit When you schedule your appointment, we'll ask for some basic information: your name, contact details, and preferred times. We don't collect medical information through our website — that conversation happens in person, where we can give you our full attention.
Your Initial Evaluation Your first visit typically lasts about 45–60 minutes. We'll start by getting to know you: your history, your current symptoms, your goals, and what matters most to you in your recovery. Then we'll perform a thorough physical evaluation to assess your strength, mobility, flexibility, and function.
Your Personalized Care Plan Based on your evaluation, we'll develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs. We'll explain what we found, what we recommend, and how we plan to get you where you want to be. You'll leave your first visit with a clear understanding of your path forward.
